|

I"ve given my notice at work,I turn 66 the last of August and I am retiring, loading my car and then come September I am on my way south to BZ, a short stop for some detective work on Cozumel to try to find my sister, and then BZ. I'll probably head for Corazal, probably but I'm open to change, anybody with a referance to a good long term rental agent anywhere I would greatly appriciate a name, address, website link ect,ect...
I understand you have to remain in BZ for one year without leaving for more than two weeks to apply for perm. residency so I am looking at wanting a one year lease if possible I assume.

Never was, I lived on Cozumel for six months visiting my mother in the early 80"s before the big hurricane devistated the island, I loved the climate zone, she sugested that I would love Belize even more, less lanugage problems and more to discover and explore but I had to head back to seattle before I could visit BZ, she passed away soon after my return to seattle so I havent returned south but I am now.
I've been a BZ Forum reader for years, read all I can and I know that all is not peaches and creme but here in the states the creme has turned sour and I want to take on a new adventure in life.
I,m far from rich so I need to keep expences with in bounds, Corazal is not written in stone as a destination, wherever I land it will be a stageing area for me to check out the Country and it's People.
Beaches are beautifull but not what I really want except to visit, inland will probably be where I'll be most of the time so I am open to suggestions from those who live there as to the best starting place!

Gramps,
Well, it's spelled Corozal! It's a good place. I spent six years there, and you can read all about that on my website.

My ex-wife is now a real estate person. She has a website here.

She started out with rentals; does not mention any rentals on her site because the BTB wants to charge any rental landlord a Bed and Breakfast Tax!! But she's been doing rentals for years and knows most of the rental owners in town. (It's a small town. <grin>)

Thank you for the links you provided, I have enjoyed reading your post over the last few years and think you put forth a realistic picture of what faces the newcomer, I guess I'll be finding out soon.

Well, I try.
Perhaps Belize has really changed, but I think not.
One of these days, maybe I will check it out again.
